Appointment Cancellations

If you cannot keep your appointment time, please call us at least 24 hours in advance so we may give your time to another patient in need of our care. Failure to give 24 hours notice may result in a $25.00 charge.

On your first visit to our office, please arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment. We ask that you bring your medical records, insurance cards and any medications you are taking. You will need to complete a New Patient Registration form. This will require you to arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment time. This information will assist us in helping you proceed smoothly through your examination.

Payment

We accept most types of health insurance. Our helpful staff will tell you if we participate in your particular health plan. We also accept cash, credit cards and personal checks. Our policy is that you pay any amount not covered by your insurance at the end of your visit.

Telephone Calls

When calling MNA, it is important that you give our receptionist your name (or the patient’s name) and the nature of the call. Our receptionist will then direct your call to the person best able to respond. Please note the name of the staff member you talk to. All clinical questions are directed to your physician by a nurse as soon as possible. She will then act on your physician’s direction.

Please understand, it is impossible to properly diagnose and treat your condition without an examination. Test results are not provided over the phone. This is the purpose of the follow-up visit.

Prescriptions

When calling to renew your prescription, please call at least 3 business days before you need your medication to allow our staff to complete the renewal. Please have the name and dose of your medication as well as the name and phone number of your pharmacy when you call.

It is best to call for prescription refills Monday through Thursday. All refills will be in written form and available at the front desk. No controlled substances will be renewed after 4:30pm.

Form or Copy Fee

There is no charge for forms and a copy of patient records at the time of your scheduled office visit. There will be a fee for all forms and copies not presented at the time of your visit.

If You Are Hospitalized

Our physicians are on staff at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital, Henry Ford Cottage Hospital, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Warren, Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center, St. John Macomb Hospital, Detroit Riverview Hospital, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Harbor Oaks-New Baltimore and St. John North Shores Hospital.

If your neurological condition requires hospitalization, the doctor you see in our office will arrange the admission. During your hospital stay, you will be seen daily by an MNA physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner to assure your comfort and recovery. If you are hospitalized for other reasons and have the need to see your neurologist, this can be arranged by notifying your doctor or calling our office.

Emergencies

If you need an urgent evaluation, please call (586) 445-9900 and inform our receptionist of your problem. She will make every effort to schedule an immediate appointment with an available doctor. Please note the name of whom you talk to.

If you begin experiencing the symptoms of a stroke (numbness in an extremity, slurred speech, severe sudden headache, blurred or double vision or dizziness), recurrent seizures or seizures lasting more than five minutes, please go directly to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. Have the attendant call our office immediately upon your arrival to allow notification of our on-call neurologist.
